Weekly Update 8/16/2013

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

City Court – Court was held Thursday, August 15, 2013. We processed 11 tickets for

speeding in the 35 MPH zone with an average speed of 52.3 MPH (top speed of 56 MPH)

and 4 tickets in the 25MPH zone with an average of 49.25 MPH and a top speed of 56 MPH.

→ Oxford Orientation assistants – We had the 27 sophomores who will work with the 513

new freshmen for lunch on Friday, August 16, 2013. We furnished the lunch (Blimpies) to say

welcome back to Oxford. Mayor Roseberry, Judge Hathorn, Chief Harvey, Councilmembers

Windham and Pace and I spoke to the orientation assistants briefly. Judge Hathorn made the

biggest impression by suggesting that the new freshmen really didn’t want to end up in municipal

    court.

Clerk’s Office– Lauran and I have agreed to adopt flex time for her staff in the Clerk’s office.

Some will start at 7:30 and some will leave at 5:30. The hours of operation for the public will

remain the same - 8AM – 5PM. The advantage of being more flexible is it will let us set up

and close down the office more easily and help us adapt to some of the needs of our employees.

We are going to try it for the next three months to see if it works better than the current arrangement.
