Weekly Update 03/17/2017

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

Drought Officially Over – You probably already noticed, but now it’s official. According to the state Environmental Protection Division we are no longer in a phase II drought. It means we no longer have to prepare our monthly drought report and our usage restrictions are removed.

In Car Ticket Printing – We’ve installed the ticket printers in all the patrol cars. We’ve attached an example of an actual ticket. It’s a lot easier and smoother than writing them out by hand and hoping the carbons are legible.

Scholar’s Weekend – The College is having several events this weekend and has pitched a couple of tent pavilions (with portable heaters) on the Emory St. side of Fleming Hall to accommodate the crowd. It should be a busy weekend.

Honorary Councilmember for April – Todd Cain had his ride in the patrol car and tour of city hall, the police department, and public works on Friday.

Movie on Campus – Bonanza Productions is filming a movie on campus this weekend. We’ve rented them the Farmer’s Market lot as a parking lot and a place to stage their equipment. It’s likely to get pretty crowded Saturday and Sunday.
