From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

2017 SPLOST PASSES!! – By now you know that the 2017 SPLOST Referendum passed Tuesday. The vote was 2,004 in favor and 647 against for a 76% approval. The total at the City Hall polling station (which includes most city residents and some others) was 99 in favor and 39 against for a 72% approval. Our polling place contributed 5.2% of the total vote. This means at least $1.5 million for capital projects for Oxford over the next six years.

Stacey Mullen – During Monday’s Council meeting Mayor Roseberry presented Stacey Mullen her diploma as a “Georgia Certified Clerk” signifying her completion of the required courses and work by the Carl Vinson Institute of UGA.

High Winds - Tuesday night also was pretty exciting because of the thunderstorms and the high winds. We lost several significant trees on Wesley, Fletcher, and Haygood. We also lost power on Marshall. Our electric crew restored the power Wednesday and our contractor, Scarborough, had most of the giant trees and storm debris removed by Thursday.
