Weekly Update 09/02/2016

From Bob Schwartz, City Manager

GEFA Loan – We have attached a letter from Governor Deal announcing the approval of our sewer loan from GEFA. We will have a Resolution approving the loan agreement with GEFA on the agenda for the September 12th meeting.

Stop Bars – We installed one stop bar to make sure that the material we ordered would work. It does and is a considerable improvement over the painted version. It’s much more visible and should last longer. The picture shows the propane torch that heats it enough to make it stick. In fact, the asphalt has to be heated to a certain temperature before the stop bar is placed - - and it has to be placed in the right spot on the first try because it sticks to the asphalt. Then, everything is reheated to form a permanent bond. We have ordered the additional material to complete all the stop bars in the city.

Green House – We cut the grass Friday at the green house on Emory that we just purchased. A lot of the clutter in the yard belongs to the tenant. They have told Lauran that they are moving out by September 16th. We’ll deal with what is left after they leave.

Innovation – Made in Georgia – GMA has added a new feature to its web page. One of the first items is a short story about our Honorary Councilmember of the Month program.

Student Picnic – The picnic for Oxford College students last Friday was well received. A little rain didn’t hurt and it was well attended.
